Wollongong City

Wollongong - the City of Innovation, is a city of wonderful contrasts and is Australia's most liveable regional city.

The City of Wollongong is located just 45 minutes south of Sydney on a spectacular stretch of the southern New South Wales coast. It is the 8th largest city in Australia and is rapidly changing with education, information technology and telecommunications, manufacturing and tourism emerging as the industries of the future.

Wollongong City Council has undergone a radical transformation following the ICAC corruption allegations and the stranglehold that was on the City and promises a new era of an open and fair market, prosperity and change for the city allowing it to reach its full potential. The new city centre guidelines introduced by The Department of Planning in 2007 will see major growth in the city centre and major housing development within greater Wollongong taking the pressure off Sydney making Wollongong a very important and strategic regional city.
